The Knicks rallied behind Bobby Portis' first show out game in a blue and orange uniform, to come back from as much as 18 points down to beat the Bulls 105-98 for their first win of the season. >> Box Score

Five things to know from Monday's game...

1) Down by as much as 17 in the third quarter, the Knicks came back to tie the game late in the fourth quarter behind some hot shooting from beyond the arc, which seemingly came out of nowhere after the team struggled from the perimeter through the first three quarters. Kevin Knox and Portis each connected on two apiece to propel New York back into the game, and ultimately, into victory.

2) Portis made the Bulls sorry for trading him away last season, scoring 28 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and blocking two shots. Portis hit the final two 3- point daggers of the game--he went 4-for-4 from 3 in the game--and was the clear protagonist of the Knicks' 15-0 run to end the game. 

 

3) RJ Barrett picked up his first career double-double at the end of the third quarter when he grabbed his 10th rebound of the game, to go along with the 14 points he had up to that point. He finished the game with 19 points, 15 rebounds and five assists, continuing to impress at the start of his rookie season.

4) The Knicks missed 13 of their first 15 shots Monday night, struggling to get anything going on offense in the first quarter. The Knicks were lucky to find themselves down by only 18 after shooting 27 percent from the field in the quarter. Seems New York was still in a funk from Saturday night's loss to the Celtics--the Knicks turned the ball over 25 times that game and turned the ball over on their very first possession Monday night.

5) The Knicks turned the ball over 17 times Monday night, which is an improvement considering they turned the ball over more than 20 times in the past two games, but 12 of those came in the first half. Julius Randle, who has struggled out the gate in his first season in New York, has turned the ball over 16 times in the last three games.
