The Knicks have agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal to bring back point guard Elfrid Payton, SNY's NBA Insider Ian Begley confirmed.

Payton averaged 10.0 points and 7.2 assists per game in 45 games last season for the Knicks. It was his first season with the team after playing the 2018-19 season with New Orleans Pelicans.

He was drafted with the No. 10 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. He was traded on draft night to the Orlando Magic and played his first four seasons in the NBA with them, before getting traded to the Phoenix Suns during the 2017-18 season.

The veteran from Louisiana-Lafayette has averaged 11.0 points per game and 6.6 assists per game over the 387 games in his career. His best season came during his final year with the Magic in 2017-18 when he averaged 13.0 points per game.
