Last week I hope you all watched the 1986 World Series Game 6 Watch Party on SNY's Facebook page which featured many of my former teammates. It was truly a brilliant idea to put us all together in a discussion forum as the game unfolded from beginning to end. We were told that we could Zoom in and Zoom out at any time if we needed a break. I didn't plan on watching the entire game, which (as Met fans everywhere will recall) took almost four hours to play.

But I did.

It was so much fun to virtually "see" my old teammates Santana, Ojeda, Teufel, Elster, McDowell, Darryl, Mitchell, etc. It's been years since I've seen, let alone talked with, most of them. But having all of their faces on my computer screen talking together in real-time was one of the most fulfilling moments in my baseball life.

Our signature clubhouse needling and bantering immediately came to the forefront. It was as if we had been inserted into an H.G. Wells novel and transported 34 years back in time. But there was no evil Morlocks in this production, just us fellow partners and cohorts, a lot older and a little bit grayer, who came together to form one of the greatest teams in New York baseball history: your (and our) 108-game winning 1986 New York Metropolitans. Oh, weren't Casey, Yogi, and Gil up there smiling in that big ballpark in the sky!

It was as if we were all together again in the clubhouse or at a hotel bar after a game, just being ourselves and talking about that epic Game 6 we shared. Our camaraderie came through naturally and in shining colors. It should have given all of you viewers a feeling of what it was really like to be on a Major League Baseball team, participating in post-game conversations regarding one of the most historic games in World Series history.

What a great idea this was, brought to us by the creative minds at SNY. I want to thank SNY for bringing my '86 teammates and I together for this special event. It brought me so much joy, and it was also a joy knowing that we shared it all with our loyal fanbase.
