Isles fail to gain ground on Washington in race for division title

The atmosphere wasn't quite as rabid as it was for John Tavares' first return to the Coliseum, but Isles fans of course were none too happy to see their former captain score his first goal against his former club as the Isles fell to the Leafs Monday night, 2-1, in their final home game of the regular season. Tavares' goal ended up being the game-winner.

Worse for the Isles is they failed to capitalize on an opportunity to close the gap on Washington for the Metropolitan Division lead as the Capitals lost to the Panthers. The Isles remain three points back with two to play. Robin Lehner made 16 of his 36 saves in the first period. >> Box score
