Coming into 2020, by far the most glaring issue on the Jets roster is their WR group.

After losing Robby Anderson, their No. 1 option from 2019, in free agency, the Jets drafted Denzel Mims in the second round of the NFL draft and added Breshad Perriman and Chris Hogan to a receiver room that included Jamison Crowder.

Even looking at the group now, they'll likely need some help if the offense wants to compete this season, and tight ends Ryan Griffin and Daniel Brown — who were both activated by the Jets on Saturday — look to help that group in the passing game.

Griffin had 34 receptions for 320 yards and five touchdowns in 2019 as he took over the starting TE spot for Chris Herndon. He returns to the Jets this year after having ankle surgery at the end of last season.

"I think it's an everyday battle, I don't know if I'm ever going to feel like I did before the injury. It's just one of those things I'm going to have to deal with," Griffin said.

"I think we have a lot of talent in the room. ...We've got to stop relying on potential and just go out there and get it done as a group."

Brown, meanwhile, saw time as a wide receiver last season, catching seven passes for 72 yards and a touchdown, but will try making the 2020 roster as a tight end.

"Whatever they need me to do," Brown said on his role with the team this year. "I feel like I kind of played that same role last year. ... Whether it's in the pass game or the run game. ... t's really just contribute to the team wherever I can."

Sam Darnold will need all the help he can get this year if he hopes to really take that next step up and prove he can be a top-tier quarterback in the NFL.
