The Jets came up short in New England, dropping to 2-4 on the season and essentially making this weekend's game another must-win affair.

They'll be favored at home, with Malik Willis and the winless Miami Dolphins coming to town.

Here are the main storylines to watch as the Jets aim for their first AFC East win under Aaron Glenn…

Miami's best chance for a win?

The Dolphins' season is off to a terrible start after they lost their first five games, and also lost offensive linchpin De'Von Achane to a season-ending injury.

However, they've faced some tough opposition and competed well at times. They should be motivated as they will view this game as their best shot at getting a win.

For the third time in four games, the Jets are facing an opponent that has had longer than seven days to prepare for them, and the Dolphins will no doubt have been doing some soul-searching and specific game-planning during their bye week, which could make them dangerous.

For the Jets, situational football will be under the microscope as they must do better on third and fourth down and in end-of-half situations. New York has been outscored 100-6 in the last two minutes of the first half during Glenn's tenure.

Is D'Angelo Ponds' role set to increase?

The Jets rookie has seen some playing time in recent weeks, and finished the Patriots game in a full-time slot cornerback role after Jarvis Brownlee was apparently benched following some communication breakdowns.

While it's encouraging that the coaching staff's faith in Ponds has increased, he hasn't exactly settled into his role yet, as he had two costly penalties against the Bears and gave up a long catch and a touchdown in New England.

Will Zach Sieler terrorize the Jets once again?

The Dolphins' defensive lineman has developed from being a rotational player into one of Miami's defensive leaders over the past several years, and he always seems to be at his best when facing New York.

Sieler has played 12 times against the Jets, racking up nine sacks. Miami has a 10-2 record in those games, and he'll be eager to improve on that this Sunday. Otherwise, he could be a trade candidate in the weeks ahead.
