The Jets released wide receiver Corey Davis on Thursday after he applied for reinstatement to the NFL.

The 27-year-old is now a free agent, but according to numerous reports, a return to Gang Green on a reworked contract remains a possibility.

Davis abruptly announced he was stepping away from the game in August, but Robert Saleh never closed the door on a potential return at the time, and it appears that remains the case.

The 6-foot-3 wideout spent the first four years of his career with the Tennessee Titans before signing with Gang Green during the 2021 offseason.

He emerged as a weapon during his first two seasons in New York's offense, hauling in 66 receptions for 1,028 yards and six touchdowns before deciding to hang up the spikes.

Bringing Davis back certainly makes a ton of sense for the Jets, who are still looking to add someone to slot in alongside star receiver Garrett Wilson
