The Jets could potentially get Sam Darnold back for their Week 7 matchup with the Buffalo Bills. Adam Gase said the third-year quarterback cleared an important hurdle on Wednesday and will practice Thursday.

"(Darnold) looked good," Gase said before Thursday's practice. "From what he's saying right now, he feels good coming into practice today."

Gase said he'll be monitoring Darnold's velocity, especially on third down, as he evaluates his readiness to return to the starting lineup.

Gase further said he "didn't see any discomfort" from Darnold, but kept a realistic outlook.

"I'm sure there was (some discomfort)," Gase said. "He's probably trying to hide it a little bit."

The QB is showing signs of a true pro that wants to get back on the field with his team. But at what cost? The Jets are 0-6, and SNY's Ralph Vacchiano has alluded to the fact that Darnold's evaluation is the only thing that seems to matter at the moment. Doing so with a 100 percent Darnold is vital, so we'll see what the Jets decide.

Gase didn't name his starter between Darnold and Joe Flacco, as he has at this time for the past two weeks. The Jets could take this all the way to Sunday to see if the California native is ready to get back in the game.
