Jeff McNeil 'super excited' to sign Mets extension: 'New York is my home'

Jeff McNeil was all smiles at his Mets contract extension news conference on Tuesday afternoon, and thanked GM Billy Eppler as well as the Steve and Alex Cohen for allowing the deal to get done now and not have to reach free agency in two years. McNeil's new deal is for four years, $50 million, and will run through the 2026 season with a club option for 2027. The reigning batting champion laughed when asked if he had received a car from teammate Francisco Lindor yet, which he hasn't, but the long-awaited conclusion to what kind of car it will be could be revealed during spring training. McNeil batted .326 with nine home runs and 174 hits in 2022.
