Jamal Adams thinks Sam Darnold will rebound from lackluster 2020: 'Absolutely he can play'

'Right now, he’s lost a lot of confidence' Adams told Tiki and Tierney

Sam Darnold notably had the worst professional season of his career in 2020.

His 2,208 yards and nine touchdowns were both career lows. With that, of course, has come speculation of a new quarterback - whether it's Justin Fields or Deshaun Watson - to start the 2021 season.

But former teammate Jamal Adams said Darnold 'absolutely...can play,' and the talk of a new quarterback more than likely affected him as last season progressed.

“Right now, he’s lost a lot of confidence," Adams said on Tiki & Tierney. "You get all this speculation [about] a new quarterback. [People] want Trevor [Lawrence], they want Deshaun [Watson] – those things are definitely getting to him. And I know it is because he’s human at the end of the day."

Adams was traded from the Jets to the Seattle Seahawks last summer. But despite forcing himself out of New York, Adams is supportive of his former quarterback.

“Wherever he lands, he’s going to be fine,” Adams said. “I’m pulling for Sammy. I shot him a text the other day. He’s going to be fine, man. He’s going to get his confidence back, and he’s going to start ripping again.”
