For the first time ever, arbitration hearings occurred on Zoom Tuesday. J.D. Davis' hearing with the Mets was among those that took place.

According to MLB Network's Jon Heyman, Davis is seeking $2.475 million this season, while the Mets are arguing that $2.1 million should be his salary in 2021.

Davis still has three years left of team control after this season. He is set to become a free agent in 2025.

Over the past two seasons with the Mets, Davis has proven to be a solid right-handed bat with some pop. He had 22 homers and a .307 average in 2019 that showed the trade for him with the Houston Astros was well worth it.

His average dipped in 2020 but he still got on base, slashing .247/./371/.389 with six homers and 19 RBI over 56 games. The Mets would like to see that slugging number look around the .527 it was in 2019 instead of his mark in 2020.

Unless the Mets make a late addition to the roster, Davis is set to start at third base heading into Spring Training due to Robinson Cano's suspension.

Jeff McNeil moves back to second base, while Luis Guillorme will be in the infield mix as well.
