The Islanders will receive a big boost for Saturday night’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, as winger Anthony Duclair has officially been activated from long-term IR.

Duclair has been out since suffering a lower-body injury on an awkward fall during an October game against the Canadiens.

The initial timeline expected him to be sidelined for four-to-six weeks, but he quickly surpassed that, returning to practice earlier this month and now finally being cleared to get back out there later this weekend.

New York will be back at full stretch up-front with both Duclair and Mathew Barzal back.

The expectation when he signed his four-year deal with the team this offseason was that Duclair would help form a star-studded top line alongside Barzal and Bo Horvat, but those plans quickly changed when the pair suffered injuries just a few games apart.

Prior to the injury, he had started his time in orange and blue on a high note, building off a strong preseason showing with two goals and an assist over his first five regular season games.

Duclair may end up back on the top line eventually, but for now, he's set to slot in alongside Brock Nelson and Kyle Palmieri on the second line.

"Duke's one of those guys you can slot in wherever, whenever," Barzal told Stefan Rosner of the Hockey News. "He's a guy that plays the game the right way, so it's easy to have chemistry with him right away. So I have no doubt he's going to be fine, we're happy to finally have him back."
