The Mets begin a new series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday night at Citi Field.

Here's what happened in Mets Land on Wednesday, in case you missed it...

- It will be a matchup with Salvador Perez in the first round of the Home Run Derby for Pete Alonso

- Luis Rojas discussed a pivotal sixth inning for the Mets in game two of the doubleheader when the heart of his lineup all struck out with bases loaded: "The guy came back and beat them."

- Does Jacob deGrom have another trick up his sleeve when he's on the mound? SNY's Andy Martino asked him about it and he admits he does.

- Here's a full recap of the Mets' doubleheader split against the Brew Crew.

- Game one's highlights include another clutch Jose Peraza hit to tie the game in the ninth followed by Jeff McNeil's walk-off in the bottom of the eighth inning.

- McNeil said that he got the "monkey off my back" with his first ever walk-off RBI.

- And here's game two's takeaways, including cold Mets bats in the 5-0 loss.

- DeGrom confirmed that he won't be participating in the MLB All-Star festivities next week, saying he'd rather focus on resting and getting ready for the second half.

- Martino believes that acting GM Zack Scott should get a promotion that takes the qualifier away from the GM role.
