This isn't how the Giants wanted to start their season again, but nonetheless, they find themselves 0-2 for the third straight year after a loss to the Cowboys Sunday night.
It has been the norm for the Giants of late. How many times have they started the season on the wrong note?
The Giants are 0-2 for the fifth time in the last six seasons. ... That is some run.

This is the type of run the Giants don't usually bounce back from either. When NFL teams start the season 0-2, only 11 percent of them manage to salvage their year and reach the playoffs.
It isn't impossible for the Giants to make a comeback and wipe away the doubts of a lost season at this early point. But let's take a look at how that has worked out for previous 0-2 Big Blue squads in the past...
2017 Giants: 3-13
It was so much more than just an 0-2 start for last year's Giants as many fans will reluctantly remember. Mired by injuries to key players, more-than-questionable playcalling, and instability on and off the field, these Giants couldn't pick up their first win until Week 6 in Denver.
A surprise win over the Chiefs in Week 11 and Week 17 victory over the Redskins was all they would see after that. Co-owner John Mara was forced to get rid of GM Jerry Reese and head coach Ben McAdoo toward the end a season that had Super Bowl talks swirling around before it began.
2015 Giants: 6-10
The Giants went 0-2 to start this season, but they were extremely close games. Their opener against the Cowboys came down to the final seconds of the game when Tony Romo hit Jason Witten with an 11-yard pass to take the lead with seven seconds left to play.
Even worse, though, was the home opener against the Falcons in Week 2 that saw 14 unanswered, fourth-quarter points crush a 20-10 Giants lead. Big Blue would bounce back with three straight wins, but they ultimately had more losing streaks than wins as the season progressed.
2014 Giants: 6-10
It was a 35-14 blowout at Ford Field in Detroit to start of this season for the Giants. Lions WR Calvin Johnson torched the secondary for 164 yards and two touchdowns, while Matt Stafford had 346 yards through the air. Then, it was the Cardinals defeating the Giants 25-14 at home after forcing four turnovers.
Again, the Giants would recover with three straight wins. But seven straight losses from Weeks 6-13 ruined any chance to make the playoffs. The only positive that came out of this season, though, was the emergence of rookie WR Odell Beckham Jr.
2013 Giants: 7-9
The dreaded 0-6 start. Many Giants faithful will remember the struggles to begin the 2013 season, that included three straight blowout losses to the Broncos, Panthers, and Chiefs in Weeks 2-4. It wasn't pretty at all, but somehow the Giants bounced back to make themselves 4-6 with four straight victories.
But the start to the season killed them in the end as three losses after the bye week was all that was needed to put a fork in the season.
2007 Giants: 10-6, Super Bowl XLII Champions
This is the lone exception for the Giants' playoff hopes after an 0-2 start, and it was well worth it. New York lost to Dallas and Green Bay to kick off the season, but would follow it up with six straight wins before their Week 9 bye.
The Giants would end up making the playoffs as a Wild Card team, and take it the distance. They beat the Bucs to move onto the divisional round to face the NFC East-champion Cowboys, who they lost to twice in their regular season battles. They would move on with a key pick in the end zone to seal the deal.
The rest is history after beating the Packers in Lambeau Field, and pulling off the impossible against the undefeated Patriots in Phoenix to win the Super Bowl title.
