The Yankees made another big statement with their 8-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday afternoon in the Bronx. Leading the charge for the Bombers offense was Gleyber Torres and Harrison Bader.

After a rain delay, Torres got the scoring start early on, ripping a two-run shot in the bottom of the first off Orioles starter Kyle Gibson. It was his 13th homer of the season and the 21st of his career against Baltimore.

A few innings later, with the game tied at three, Torres drew a one-out walk. He then got a tremendous jump on a Giancarlo Stanton single up the middle, and scored all the way from first, putting the Yankees back in front.

"I knew with Stanton hitting at 3-2, I’m running on the pitch. I just tried to be aggressive," Torres said postgame. "I knew the defense was going to be deep so I just stayed a little bit of anticipation the throw was going to be to second and I just tried to score."

Aaron Boone said following the win that he wasn’t surprised at all by the heads-up base running.

“Gleyber has a knack for doing those kind of things because he’s fearless. It’s a really heads up play," the skipper said. "I saw him with his head down at shortstop like he’s going. He’s very instinctive and that was a very instinctive play."

Torres went on to finish the day 2-for-4 with the homer and three runs scored. That third run score came in the seventh, as after Jose Trevino extended the Yankees' lead with a homer, Bader put the game away for good.

Bader, of course, also came up with a clutch hit in Monday's win. For the second straight night, he came through for the Yanks, lining a two-run double, to make it 7-3 New York.

The 29-year-old is now 3-for-7 with a homer, a double, and five RBI in the first two games of this series. On the year, he has 14 extra-base hits and a .772 OPS through 39 games.

The thing that's impressed Boone the most about Bader is the consistency he brings day in and day out.

“He’s a really good player in the prime of his career. He’s got a great process and really strong no matter what’s going on,” he said. “He’s able to lock in, process what just happened, and move on really well.”

With that win, the Yankees were able to secure the series victory over the Orioles, and they've now won seven of their last ten. After a bit of a rough stretch without Aaron Judge in the lineup, they seem to have found their groove.
