Shortly after the NFL's 4:00 p.m. trade deadline came and went, Jets GM Joe Douglas met with the media to discuss the move the team made, and the ones they didn't make.

In his opening remarks, Douglas said that with all the names that were floating around in rumors today, seemingly Le'Veon Bell, Robby Anderson, Jamal Adams, the Jets were not actively shopping those players to other teams, but they would listen when calls came in.

"It's been a very busy few hours, as you guys can imagine. We fielded a lot of phone calls on a lot of players. Some players it's been public, other players it hasn't been public," Douglas explained. "One thing I will say is that on the players that were leaked out today, those weren't players that we were shopping, but where I'm from and what I was taught is that when a team calls you, you should always listen to what they have to say.

"So, that's what we did, we listened, we had good conversations, there was some productive conversations, but at the end of the day, there was no fire sale, there's no garage sale going on with these players. We value these guys a lot, and ultimately the offers that we received for these players didn't equal the value that we have for them."

Per Douglas, the value that other teams were willing to offer for those players did not meet the value the Jets have for them.

Douglas said that he was able to reach out to Anderson and Bell after the deadline, and was expecting to reach out to Adams as well. Douglas did say, though, that he met with Adams last week.

"Expecting to reach out to Jamal after the deadline. Don't want to go into specifics of deals that didn't happen, just other to say that the value that was offered didn't equal the value that we have for them in the organization," Douglas said.

"I did have a chance to talk to Jamal last week. It was a great conversation, a productive conversation, the details of that I don't want to get into publicly, but no, it was a very productive conversation."

Douglas was also asked if Adams was part of the team's long-term vision.

"Absolutely. Again, I just want to reiterate, we were not shopping any of those players that were talked about today," Douglas said. "You guys see Jamal every day. He wears the 'C' patch for a reason. He's an absolute warrior. He's the heartbeat of this team and this defense, and he's got the exact mentality - and I've told him from the beginning, from my first day here, that's a mission statement guy. He's a guy that when you talk about the traits you're looking for, that's Jamal."

Adams, though, seemed to have a different view of the team's approach with him at the deadline, as he tweeted the following just after Douglas stepped away from the podium:

At the end of the week last week, I sat down with the GM and Coach Gase and told them I want to be here in New York. I was told yesterday by my agent that the GM then went behind my back and shopped me around to teams, even after I asked him to keep me here! Crazy business.

Shortly there after, Douglas appeared on 'The Michael Kay Show' and reiterated the point that the team was never actively shopping their star young safety.

"Last week Jamal and I had a good conversation. We talked for a while," Douglas said. "He did state that he did want to be a member of this team and didn't want to go anywhere. … We did not make any calls on Jamal. Teams called us. … We were not shopping Jamal, I can promise you that."
