With multiple players opting out—and one not allowed to join the team—the Giants made a bevy of moves to bolster the roster.
On Sunday, the Giants announced the additions of CB Ross Cockrell, WR Cody White and OL Jackson Dennis. All three were brought into the team facility on Saturday.
Earlier this offseason, the Giants learned that OT Nate Solder, CB Sam Beal and WR Da'Mari Scott would be opting out due to coronavirus concerns.
Additionally, CB DeAndre Baker is not with the team after being charged with four counts of robbery with a firearm.
Cockrell, who played for the Giants in 2017, spent the last two seasons with the Panthers and fellow new Giant CB James Bradberry. In 14 games with Carolina last year, Cockrell had 62 tackles (48 solo), eight passes defended and two interceptions.
White and Dennis are both undrafted free agents that the Giants hope were hidden gems that can become steals.
Coming out of Michigan State, White initially signed with the Chiefs after the draft, but the Super Bowl champions waived him on July 29. White finished his career ranked seventh in Michigan State history with 143 receptions, 12th with 1,967 receiving yards and tied for 16th with 12 touchdown catches.
Dennis was signed by the Cardinals after the draft but was then waived on July 26. He started 24 of 40 games at Holy Cross over a five-year career, including 12 starts in his final season.
