Giants cornerback Sam Beal pleaded guilty last Friday to two gun-related charges, according to police records obtained from the Lorain County Justice Center in Lorain County, Ohio.

Beal, who was selected by the Giants in the third round of the 2018 NFL Supplemental Draft, was arrested on July 2, 2020 following a traffic stop and was charged with improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon, and marijuana possession.

The 24-year-old, who opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns, was placed on two years probation, per court records.

"We have been aware of the situation,” the Giants said in a team statement. “We have no further comment at this time."

The Western Michigan product played in six games with the Giants in 2019, making three starts. That season, he made 26 combined tackles, including one for loss, with one pass break-up.

With James Bradberry and Adoree Jackson at the top of the depth chart, Beal is competing for a backup spot with Big Blue heading into this season.
