Arvell Reese hasn’t quite started his pro career as hoped.

The rookie linebacker came to the Giants with huge expectations after being selected with the fifth pick in this year’s draft, but he’s struggled a bit over his first two games at the pro level.

Reese particularly didn’t like how he played on Monday Night Football against the Rams.

So, the youngster took these days following the nationally-televised loss to do some self-reflecting, and he came into this weekend’s game with a bit of a chip on his shoulder.

“I have way higher standards for myself,” Reese said.

And the former All-American playmaker certainly was able to live up to those standards on Sunday, as he put together easily the best showing of his young-career to this point.

Reese was just about everywhere in the Giants’ 12-7 win over the Titans.

He made his presence early and often, causing havoc for the Tennessee offense in both the run and passing games.

The 21-year-old finished with a game-high 13 tackles, two for a loss, and one pass deflection.

Reese performed well enough that head coach John Harbaugh presented him with the first of what could be many game balls in his NFL career.

“He sprang onto the scene today,” Harbaugh declared postgame. “He was all over the field.”

The Giants certainly will need more performances like this from Reese moving forward, especially if Brian Burns is forced to miss anytime with his knee injury.

Look for him to try to build off the success next Sunday against the Cardinals.
