The Giants are set to release troubled kicker Aldrick Rosas, as first reported by NFL Network's Mike Garfolo, after he was formally charged with three misdemeanors earlier this month stemming from a hit-and-run accident in June.

Rosas was charged with reckless driving on a highway, hit-and-run property damage and driving while suspended/revoked for DUI of alcohol/drugs less than two weeks ago.

The charges came after Rosas' Chevrolet SUV was going "about 100 mph" and collided with a Ford pickup truck in the early hours of the morning in California on June 15.

After the news of his release broke, Rosas took to Instagram to organization for his three seasons with the team.

"I want to thank the Mara and Tisch Family for the past 3 years with the New York Giants. It's been an incredible ride and I've met so many amazing coaches and teammates! I wish I could've performed at the level I know I can play at, I have nothing but love towards the New York Giants. The values of character, love and family are seen in everyday life at the facility within the staff and management. Thank you to all my fans who showed love and support through the years! Go Giants," Rosas said on Instagram.

By cutting Rosas, who received a second-round restricted free agent tender back in March, the Giants create $3.3M in cap space with no dead money.

Rosas struggled in two of his three years in New York, connecting on just 72 percent (18-25) and 70.6 percent (12-17) of his field goal attempts in 2017 and 2019.

However, he did manage to put together a Pro Bowl campaign in 2018 after missing all but one field goal (32-33).

The Giants will need to make a quick scramble for a starting kicker now that training camp is about to start up.
