Graham Gano is officially the Giants placekicker, as Chandler Catanzaro was released on Monday, SNY's Ralph Vacchiano confirmed.
Gano visited the Giants on Sunday with the intent to sign the veteran once he passed coronavirus testing and a physical.
Gano has not kicked in the NFL since 2018 after fracturing his femur late that season.
A Pro Bowler in 2017, Gano has hit 82.1 percent of his field goals over his career. He hit 87.5 percent during the 2018 season after posting a 96.7 field goal percentage in 2017.
The Giants have had a kicker dilemma since Aldrick Rosas was charged with three misdemeanors after a June hit-and-run accident. He was cut and Catanzaro was signed in July to fill the void.
Will Gano have an competition? The Giants will surely think about bringing someone in to compete with the 33-year-old, but it is certainly his job to lose.
