Oshane Ximines debuted with a promising rookie season for the Giants in 2019.

As he enters his sophomore campaign, though, Ximines sees plenty of room for improvement.

"Rookie year was great," Ximines said Monday. "I learned a lot of things and Year 2, I'm just looking to do whatever I've got to do to help the team win and just come in, learn the playbook and do what I've got to do every single day and just get better and be an asset to the team."

The Giants selected Ximines from Old Dominion with the No. 95 overall pick in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. With edge-rushing talents such as sixth-year veteran Markus Golden and third-year pro Lorenzo Carter at outside linebacker, Ximines thrives off the competition but keeps a focus on collective betterment.

"In our room, it's great because we all push each other, we all motivate each other every single day and we learn from each other," Ximines said. "We've all got different skill sets. We understand that we try to take as much from each other as possible and that's what separates myself. I'm not really worried about that right now. I'm just coming in every single day just doing whatever I've got to do to help the team and it's going (well) so far."

In 16 games last season, Ximines started two, totaling 25 tackles (five for loss), 4 1/2 sacks (nine quarterback hits) and one pass deflection. After starring with the Monarchs from 2014-18, Ximines showed glimpses of doing the same as a Giant.

"I did progress as the season went on ... I feel like I did progress," Ximines said. "I've still got a long way to go, though. When I turned on the film, Week 17, I wasn't satisfied with that. So there's still a long way to go and I'm trying to get better every day."
