Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart was having a tremendous game against the Bears, but was removed at the start of the fourth quarter and later ruled out with a concussion as New York went on to lose 24-20 in Chicago.

Dart was under center for the Giants' first two plays of their third drive of the second half, the final plays of the third quarter. But at the start of the fourth, Russell Wilson was in the huddle with the rookie QB in the blue medical tent.

"As he was going back on the field, just didn't seem right," head coach Brian Daboll said after the game, presumably before the start of the fourth. "Called the trainers over and said, 'Let's get him out and make sure he gets looked at.'"

Dart had taken a few shots on the game, getting sacked twice (and brought down once more on a play that was wiped away for a roughing penalty that saw his helmet get dislodged), in addition to his six carries. And it appears that the final carry of the day was when he sustained the concussion.

With just over five minutes left in the third, Dart ran for seven yards off the left side and would have had a first down just outside the red zone, but the ball popped loose, and when he hit the ground, his head hit the turf hard. The Bears recovered the fumble and led a field goal drive to make it a seven-point game.

On the next drive, Dart tossed a completion that was negated by an offensive penalty and handed the ball off on a play that was negated by a defensive penalty. That ended the quarter and was the last time the rookie was seen.

"It's unfortunate that he got hurt," Daboll said, adding that he was "not sure exactly the play when it happened."

"I'm just concerned for the kid," he said.

Wilson finished off the drive Dart started, leading New York on a long march that was capped off with a 19-yard field goal to extend the Giants' lead to 20-10 with just over 10 minutes to play.

Dart exited the game with 242 yards through the air on 19-for-29 passing (8.3 yards per attempt) with 66 yards on six carries and two touchdowns. He had a 91.5 passer rating.

Dart took off when Darius Slayton hauled a sensational, one-handed grab that got New York's offense cooking on the final play of the first quarter. The QB found Slayton again on the very next play, setting up Dart's three-yard touchdown run to level the score.

Throughout the day, he was crisp with his throws, finding Slayton for 89 yards on four catches, tight end Theo Johnson for 71 yards on six catches, and receiver Wan'Dale Robinson for 62 yards on six catches.

But the fumble and the concussion, even more so, will worry Big Blue, especially after Dart has had a few worries with head injuries on the year already.
