Potentially looking to make an addition to their running back room, the Giants are hosting Najee Harris for a visit, as first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Big Blue was said to be in the mix for some of the top free-agent backs this offseason.

"I felt like the hair on the back of my neck stood up when I saw him over there, you know? He's a big dude," head coach John Harbaugh said Monday about seeing Harris during his visit.

Their current room is headlined by second-year man Cam Skattebo returning from injury, third-year back Tyrone Tracy Jr., and veteran Devin Singletary.

They also have Dante 'Turbo' Miller, but he suffered an injury in the preseason opener.

Harris could present a potential low-risk option to bring into the mix, coming off an injury of his own.

The 28-year-old signed with the Chargers on a one-year deal last offseason, but he ended up going down with a torn Achilles just three games into the year. He had just 15 carries for 61 yards and three receptions at the time.

Harbaugh said Harris looked "good in the workout" despite not being fully recovered from that injury.

"He's not back 100 percent. He's not in football shape yet. So, if we are able to do something, it'll be a process," the head coach said. "But that would be a guy that has got a lot of experience. He's a decorated vet. And with those guys, generally, you just have to kind of see where they're at when you get them. And sometimes it works out great. Sometimes it's just okay, and other times it doesn't work out.

"But based on the workout, I would say we feel like he's got a shot. We'll just have to see how it goes."

Before that, Harris had been a relatively steady four-year starter with the Steelers, racking up 28 touchdowns and 4,328 rushing yards over that span.

Giants senior offensive assistant Greg Roman was with him last year in Los Angeles.

Additionally, the Giants are signing veteran QB Jake Haener after they hosted him for a visit last month, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Haener is expected to slot in as the QB3, behind second-year starter Jaxson Dart and veteran backup Jameis Winston, who is also back for his second season in the Big Apple.
