Just a few hours after releasing Aldrick Rosas, the Giants are signing former Jets kicker Chandler Catanzaro to a one-year deal. Iit was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter and confirmed by SNY's Ralph Vacchiano.
Catanzaro, who has also kicked for the Cardinals, Panthers and Buccaneers in the past, had retired from the NFL last August and was only just released from the Jets' reserve/left squad list last week.
The Clemson product spent his first three seasons in Arizona before a one-year stint with the Jets in 2017. After splitting 2018 with the Buccaneers and Panthers, Catanzaro resigned with the Jets during the 2019 offseason before retiring in August of the same year.
In 77 career games, Catanzaro has gone 119-142 on field goal attempts (83.8 percent) and 182-196 on PATs (92.9 percent).
The Giants were in dire need of a kicker after releasing Rosas earlier Sunday morning. Rosas had been charged with three misdemeanors earlier this month after being arrested for a hit-and-run accident back in June.
