Daniel Murphy's 2015 postseason run is something Mets fans will never forget.

After hitting just 14 home runs in the regular season, Murphy became a legend in the postseason, belting seven home runs in a nine-game span, helping the Mets defeat the Dodgers in five games and then sweep the Chicago Cubs to win the NL pennant.

On the latest Beyond the Booth Live, SNY's Gary Cohen, Ron Darling, and Keith Hernandez looked back on Murphy's meteoric playoff rise.

"Every player who plays for a considerable amount in the major leagues has their time," said Darling. "People call it being in the zone, whatever you want to call it. Hall of Famers do it 75 percent of the time, that's why they get into the Hall of Fame.

"But even the most lowly of guys or guys who have not had the most brilliant careers have that moment when they're in the zone. Well Murph found that zone right at the right time, at the best time that he could ever find it. … We're talking about the NLDS and NLCS. No one had 10 days or 11 days better than that than you'll ever see, and unlikely."

What stood out to Hernandez was the way that Murphy adapted to hitting coach Kevin Long's approach, completely changing his game from a player who would slap the ball to left and left-center, into a dead-pull, power hitter.

"Kevin Long was the hitting coach, who was (once) with the Yankees, (who taught) open up the shoulder, drop the barrel, and Murph was a very intelligent hitter, and I think that Kevin Long connect with Murph," Hernandez recalled. "Murph started pulling the ball more.

"I had a conversation with Don Mattingly about when (Lou) Piniella was the (Yankees) hitting coach, and remember when Don came up he went to left-center field a lot, but at Yankee Stadium they all taught him to pull a little bit.

"Long brought that there and I think it connected with Murph, because Murph became more of a -- he had a level swing, and he started swinging up a little bit, we noticed that mid-season -- and I think it just finally connected, and also the element of surprise to the pitcher. When someone makes a dramatic change like that … all of a sudden, Murph's turning (on the ball)."

Murphy, of course, cashed in on his playoff success by signing a deal with the Washington Nationals, and has gone on to play for the Cubs and Colorado Rockies as well.

But it will be nearly impossible for him to ever top his postseason heroics of 2015.
