The Jets completely overhauled their defense, shipping out cornerback Michael Carter II and two of their top young talents in Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams ahead of this year’s trade deadline.

With an eye towards the future, Gang Green picked up four high-round future draft picks and some intriguing high-upside talent on the other side of the ball in return.

Arguably the most notable addition in the three trades is young wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, who was acquired from the Colts as part of the shocking Gardner deal.

Mitchell was viewed by many around the league as a potential change of scenery candidate, which is why the Jets pushed so hard for him to be included in the package.

The 23-year-old was never able to carve out a role in Indy as he’s gotten off to a bit of a slow start in his NFL career.

While he hasn’t seen much time due to his lack of production, a mental mistake when called upon late in the game earlier this season pushed him even further down the depth chart.

Mitchell has been targeted just four times since committing his costly goal line fumble, but that figures to change now that he’s taking his talents to the Big Apple.

The youngster should step in and immediately provide a boost down the stretch for an offense that’s in desperate need of quality depth alongside star wideout Garrett Wilson.

Wilson is plenty familiar with Mitchell from his days dominating at UGA and Texas, and he’s excited about the new dynamics he can bring to this offense.

“He’s a dawg bro,” Wilson said. “I’ve been watching him since he was at Georgia, then obviously these past couple of years at Texas I got to watch him, and we played against him when he was with the Colts last year -- we’re gonna use that boy.

“He can go up and get the ball. He’s hard to tackle and then you watch him move and you’re like, ‘He don’t move like his size,’ he has great body control -- I’m excited to see what he does because he’s got it all.”
