Brian McCann has decided to call it a career.

Following the Braves' NLDS Game 5 13-1 blowout loss to the Cardinals, the veteran of 15 major league seasons announced his retirement from baseball.

"It's just time to go. 15 years of catching, it's sad but it's time. I knew about a month and a half ago," McCann told reporters.

"You know when you know, and it's time."

McCann will be remembered most for his time with the Braves, as he spent 10 seasons with the club, belting 188 home runs as a Brave.

But the Yankees lured him away from Atlanta after the 2013 season, signing him to a five-year, $85 million deal, hoping that the short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium would accentuate to his pull tendency.

He spent three seasons in pinstripes, batting .235 with 69 home runs and 227 RBI.

Prior to the 2017 season, the Yankees traded McCann to the Houston Astros, where he went on to win a World Series ring.

He re-signed with Atlanta on a one year, $2 million deal this past offseason, rounding out his career with his hometown team.

"I had a long career. 15 years is a long time, catching every day, and I got to do it in my hometown," McCann said.

"That's the big reason I wanted to come back. I wanted to be a part of this again, put this uniform back on and play in front of my family every night, so that was a big reason."
