Matt Harvey, who is continuing to stay in game shape with the 2020 MLB season paused due to the coronavirus pandemic, was back on the mound on Thursday.

The 31-year-old Harvey, who is currently a free agent after being released by the Los Angeles Angels last season, tried out for the Toronto Blue Jays during the offseason. Toronto viewed him as a potential reliever, MLB Network's Jon Heyman reported.
According to the report, the Blue Jays passed on signing him after "seriously" considering it.
Harvey's once-promising career has been derailed due in large part to thoracic outlet syndrome and its after-effects that have plagued him since the 2016 season.
During the 2015 season, Harvey returned from Tommy John surgery and blew past his innings limit while helping to guide the Mets to the World Series against the Royals.
David Wright recently spoke about Harvey's rise and fall.
"I'm pulling for Matt," Wright said on the Metrospective Podcast with Pete McCarthy and Tim Britton. "Without Matt -- selfishly -- I don't get a chance to play in a World Series, certainly. He (had a decision to make in 2015) that honestly weighed heavily after coming off that Tommy John (surgery), which route he should go. Fortunately, ultimately, good for the organization, good for the team, good for me, he chose to pitch on and was absolutely dominant.
"There's a handful of seasons or pitchers that I can look back throughout my career and say 'this guy was on a different level.' Matt Harvey, when he was right, was on a different level. I got to know Matt very well. ... He's easy to root for. He's a guy that, again, I owe a great deal of gratitude for (him) doing what he did to carry us to a World Series, through that postseason. I'm sure that was not an easy decision and he did that for the good of the team, good of the organization."
It can be argued that Harvey is one of the most underappreciated Mets of the last 20 years, but it's hard to see a reunion happening at this point.
It should be noted, though, that the current front office group was not in charge when Harvey's tenure with the Mets ended.
