After overcoming multiple setbacks following 2017 Tommy John surgery, former Met infielder TJ Rivera will make his debut with the Long Island Ducks on Saturday night.

The 30-year-old spent two seasons with the Mets with 2016 and 2017, posting a .304 batting average with eight home runs and 43 runs driven in during that span.

A Bronx native, Rivera had Tommy John surgery in September of 2017. He was with the Mets briefly this season in Spring Training before being officially released by the team on March 9th.

Also of note in the Ducks' Saturday lineup is former Met Kirk Nieuwenhuis, who spent four seasons with the big league club.
