Could former Jets linebacker Darron Lee be set for a return to the AFC East? The three-year linebacker and 2016 NFL Draft first-rounder was slated for a workout Monday with the Buffalo Bills, according to the league's transaction wire, as NFL Network's Ian Rapoport first noted.
Lee, 25, spent the 2019 season with the Kansas City Chiefs. The 6-foot-1, 232-pounder started two of the 16 games he played in and earned his first ring as the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV.
With the Chiefs, Lee totaled 31 tackles. The Chiefs went 12-4 overall, winning the AFC West before a 31-20 victory against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV.
Lee was traded May 15, 2019 -- 12 days after the Jets declined his fifth-year option -- for a sixth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Jets subsequently selected Texas A&M punter Braden Mann with the No. 191 overall pick in the sixth round.
With the Jets from 2016-18, Lee totaled 155 tackles (17 for loss), four sacks (11 quarterback hits), three interceptions (11 pass breakups) and two forced fumbles in 40 games (36 starts).
The Jets selected Lee from Ohio State with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. In 28 games with the Buckeyes from 2014-15, Lee totaled 146 tackles (27 for loss), 11 sacks, three interceptions (five pass breakups) and three forced fumbles (two recoveries).
