Rangers forward Filip Chytil did not suffer a concussion last Thursday against the Sharks and will join the Rangers on Calgary as the team continues their road trip, per multiple reports.
Chytil was examined by specialists and is considered day-to-day.
The Rangers face the Flames on Thursday after going up against the Canucks on Tuesday.
Health has been an issue for the Czech center. It is believed the eight-year NHL man sustained a concussion – the fourth of his career – 10 games into last season. His recovery from that injury included a return to his home country and several setbacks before he was finally deemed healthy enough to return to the ice for the playoffs.
After a six-month absence, he appeared in six games during the Rangers' playoff run for a total of 77:28 time on the ice but failed to register a point on eight shots on goal and was a minus-3.
The latest injury appeared to occur when Chytil took a friendly-fire elbow to the chest from teammate K'Andre Miller in a heavy open-ice collision midway through the second period. He skated one shift after the collision but was later ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
Through 15 games this year, he has tallied nine points (four goals, five assists) and is a plus-11 averaging 13:40 time on the ice.
Jonny Brodzinski has been skating in Chytil's place on the line with Will Cuylle and Kaapo Kakko.
"He goes in there he gives us good minutes, he's fast, he's competitive. I think that spot's a good fit for him," head coach Peter Laviolette recently said. "He's played there before he's done that. I think he's real comfortable here now. I think, if needed, he'll be fine."
