With the 2020 MLB postseason set to begin at the end of September, MLB is putting protocols in place for contending teams in preparation for what will be postseason bubbles that will be in place due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Here's everything you need to know...

Quarantine and testing protocols

Before entering the postseason bubbles, players on contending teams will have to quarantine in a hotel for the final seven days of the regular season, reports Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

According to Sherman, those players will undergo daily testing for COVID-19 and will be allowed to leave their quarantine hotel if their team is eliminated from postseason contention.

Additionally, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that families of players will have the option to enter bubble sites "prior to later (postseason) series," with everyone inside the bubble getting tested daily.

The location of the first round of the playoffs

The best-of-three first round of the playoffs will take place entirely at the home ballpark of the higher seed.

For example, if the season ended right now, the Los Angeles Dodgers would have the best record in the National League. As the No. 1 seed, they would host the No. 8 seed San Francisco Giants in the first round.

The location of the bubbles

The NLDS will take place at Globe Life Field in Texas (home of the Rangers) and Minute Maid Park in Houston (home of the Astros)
The ALDS will take place at Petco Park in San Diego (home of the Padres) and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles (home of the Dodgers).
The NLCS will take place at Globe Life Field
The ALCS will take place at Petco Park
The World Series will take place at Globe Life Field

The reason National League teams are playing in American League parks and vice versa during the Division Series and League Championship series is to prevent any team from having home field advantage.

For the World Series, barring a wild finish to the season for the 17-30 Rangers, no one will have a home field advantage.

Will fans be allowed to attend?

Maybe.

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said Monday that fans could potentially be allowed to attend the postseason in time for the ALCS and NLCS.

Manfred explained that any scenario where fans attend would be similar to the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans game in Missouri during Week 1 of the NFL season, where roughly 16,000 socially distanced fans were allowed in a stadium that fits 76,000.
