Darryl Strawberry and Doc Gooden are the latest Mets legends to commit to attending Old Timers' Day.

Strawberry starred for the Mets from 1983 to 1990.

Gooden came up in 1984, winning Rookie of the Year. He won the Cy Young award in 1985 after turning in one of the most dominant seasons in history.

"Shea was always a wonderful place for me," Strawberry said in a news release from the team. "The fans were always great. They supported me in the good and bad times."

While Strawberry will be on hand for the festivities, he is not planning to play.

"Sorry to say, I don’t think I will be able to play," Strawberry said. "My knees and shoulder won’t let me swing a bat anymore. It’s the wear and tear and the years catching up with me. I will be there supporting the guys who will be on the field."

Gooden will not only be there, but is hoping to start the game.

"Hopefully, hopefully, let’s knock on wood, I’m the starting pitcher," Gooden said on the Amazin' But True podcast. "I might have like five pitches. ... There are plenty of options. I’m just assuming I’m starting. No one told me I’m starting. They did tell me they want me to play, but I’m just assuming that."

Added Gooden:

"I’m starting to get in good shape for that because you don’t want to go out and embarrass yourself, especially with my kids on hand. It should be fun. I’m glad they’re bringing Old Timers’ back to Citi Field. I mean, it’s wonderful for the fans. They’re always talking about it, especially at dinner with the Yankees. I played a couple with the Yankees, but you know I’m a Met always."

Old Timers' Day is set for Aug. 27, prior the their game against the Colorado Rockies, and has more than 40 players scheduled to attend including Frank Thomas, Ron Swoboda, Jon Matlack, Felix Millán, Mookie Wilson, Howard Johnson, Bobby Ojeda, Robin Ventura, Turk Wendell, Endy Chávez, Cliff Floyd, Daniel Murphy, Mike Piazza, Billy Wagner, Howard Johnson, Bartolo Colon, and Yoenis Cespedes.

This will be the first Mets Old Timers' Day since 1994.
