Yankees GM Brian Cashman was willing to offer LHP Patrick Corbin a five-year deal worth around $100 million, but wasn't willing to meet his starting point of six years, $126 million.

Cashman held firm, and he has no regrets.

Despite Cashman believing Corbin was "the best free-agent pitcher in the market" this offseason, he told reporters he was "comfortable" with the Yankees staying put at a max of five years.

"[That was] not the level we were going to play in," Cashman said about Corbin, who signed a six-year, $140 million deal with the Nationals last week.

New York talked about going four or five years with the 29-year-old Corbin, who went 11-7 with a 3.15 ERA in 33 starts with the DIamondbacks last season, however Cashman didn't want to offer a longer-term contract to him.

The Yankees have since turned their attention to J.A. Happ to bolster their rotation, and they have also been linked in trade talks with Indians starters Corey Kluber and Trevor Bauer.

Entering the offseason, Cashman said his goal was to acquire two starting pitchers. He traded for James Paxton last month in a four-player trade with the Mariners. He still has time to find the second.
