Mets 3B Bo Bichette will decide on his contract's opt-out clause in October, he said Saturday.

"I'm having a great time here; I'm enjoying my teammates, and I think that the future here is bright," Bichette said, via The Athletic's Will Sammon. "The team is building something good. There's a winning atmosphere with veterans who are really great players and young players who are showing they can be winning players on a good team. So that's exciting for me. But I'm focused on finishing the season strong, and I'll make that decision when it comes."

The 28-year-old Bichette entered Sunday's Subway Series finale at the Yankees with a .263/.314/.394 slash line, 16 home runs and 73 RBI through 146 games this season -- his first in New York.

He signed a three-year, $126 million deal with opt-out clauses after each of the first two seasons.

"The way I look at it is, I think there's no doubt this team is going to be better next year," Bichette said in August, via MLB.com's Anthony DiComo. "I really believe that. There's still a lot of talent in this room, a lot of young talent that's really hungry, combined with guys that have been around who have done a lot of great things in this game. And then on top of that, typically when you have a season like this, people show up a little bit more motivated. So I think that this group is going to be well prepared to be better next year."
