Ron Darling, SNY.tv
I was watching Cal Ripken's record-breaking game Wednesday night (I had never seen it) and marveling that all these years later he is still doing extraordinary things.
Under the charitable umbrella of the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation both Bill and Cal Jr. have partnered with Feeding America to launch the Strike Out Hunger campaign in efforts to help kids and families across the country who are dealing with food insecurity during this COVID-19 pandemic. Cal was such a great guy to work with at TBS during many postseason games and teaming up with Bill occasionally on MLB Network has been a blessing for me. Job well done, guys, and you both are still making your Pops proud.
My other partner Ernie Johnson Jr. has been doing something worth taking a look at if you are interested in a career in television. EJ's journalism sessions focus on people in the industry and their success stories. Ernie just finished his 30th year with Turner, and I've never met anyone I'm prouder to call my friend.
I guess the focus of this little ditty is charity during difficult times and no one in the game of baseball has done more than Steven Matz. His foundation is on the frontlines, helping families cope with this pandemic and its preparedness has allowed them to act quickly. Bravo to Steven, his wife Taylor and all of his foundation's volunteers.
Stay healthy, be kind to each other and PEACE.
