The Mets, Yankees, Rangers, Islanders, Devils, Knicks, and Nets are all paused

In response to the coronavirus outbreak that has gripped the world -- with 1,701 known cases and 40 deaths in the United States as of Friday morning -- Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League, and the National Basketball Association were among the major sports leagues to suspend/pause operations over the last 48 hours.

MLB has canceled all remaining spring training games, and will delay the start of the regular season at least two weeks.

The NHL has paused the season and hopes to resume when it is "appropriate and prudent."

The NBA has suspended the season and hopes to resume at some point.

The NCAA conference tournaments and March Madness have been canceled.
