Thursday was a monumental day for the Mets as they acquired four-time All-Star Francisco Lindor, along with starter Carlos Carrasco, from the Cleveland Indians.

And while the Mets are obviously thrilled to welcome in two new players to the roster, the trade also means having to say goodbye to a few of their own, as Amed Rosario, Andres Gimenez, Isaiah Greene, and Josh Wolf were sent to Cleveland.

Rosario, who was originally signed as an international free agent by the Mets in 2012 when he was only 16, has spent his entire career with the organization to this point. After the trade was made official, the shortstop took to social media to thank both the fans and Mets organization for his time with the team.

“So much going through my mind at the moment but it’s time to embrace my new journey!,” Rosario posted on both Instagram and Twitter. “To the New York Mets Organization thank you for taking a chance with a 16 yr old kid from Santo Domingo and giving me the opportunity to do what I love.

“To all Mets fans, you will always have a place in my heart, New York is truly amazing. I gave you my all each and everyday I stepped in Citi Field.

“Thank you for EVERYTHING from the bottom of my heart !”

The 25-year old made his MLB debut with the Mets in April 2017 and went on to have four solid seasons in Queens. A strong-armed shortstop, Rosario grew into an offensive presence for the Mets, with his best season coming in 2019, when he slashed .287/.323/.432 with 15 home runs, 72 RBI, 75 runs scored and 30 doubles.

Now, Rosario looks to keep trending upwards in the AL Central.
