EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- It has only been two months since the Giants signed Odell Beckham Jr. to a five-year, $95 million contract extension with $65 million guaranteed. That kind of commitment, plus the salary cap hits that comes with it, probably makes him the most untradeable player on the Giants' roster.

But teams have called anyway, according to a report, and they've even come through with "decent offers" -- which means some teams want him, believe they can fit him under their salary cap and have at least a slight hope they can tempt the Giants to trade him away.

Can they? It's very, very doubtful. And the price would be ridiculously high. When they listened to offers back in March, an NFL source said the impression the Giants gave was that it would take a first-round pick, plus. In fact, one report said the price was two first-round picks. And since the Oakland Raiders just unloaded Amari Cooper -- an inferior, albeit slightly less expensive receiver -- to Dallas for one first-round pick, that seems about right.

So let's play some fantasy football. If the Giants were willing to ship out one of their best players, one in which they just invested so heavily, one they planned to build around in the future, and if they were willing to absorb a hit of $16 million in dead money against the salary cap next season, what potential suitors would be in play?

Here's a look at teams that might want Beckham and why:

New England Patriots

The Fox report that said the Giants were getting offers for Beckham also noted that the Patriots were also shopping for a "bona fide, premium wide receiver." They already have Josh Gordon, but he's always one misstep away from a suspension. They have the highly productive Julian Edelman, but he's a different type of receiver than Beckham. Plus, he's 32. The Patriots obviously want to load up on offensive weapons to try and win as many more championships as they can before Tom Brady retires (if he ever retires). Beckham might make them unstoppable.

Cleveland Browns

They have the cap room and they have Beckham's close friend Jarvis Landry on the team and the two of them would instantly become the best 1-2 punch at receiver in the league. Yes, Beckham would have to endure a little more growing pains at quarterback until Baker Mayfield is really ready to compete. But at least they have their quarterback of the future and a plan in place and ton of cap room to rebuild the roster quickly. And now, with Hue Jackson fired, they're about to have a new coach.

Indianapolis Colts

When the Colts to the Jets a couple of weeks ago, the most glaring thing was that Andrew Luck's weapons were terrible. And with T.Y. Hilton hurt and now struggling to come back from his injury, the cupboard there is really bare. The Colts, though, are 3-5 in a winnable division, and if they bring in Beckham and make Hilton their No. 2 receiver, they could be a force in the AFC South for years to come.

San Francisco 49ers

There was a report that they had some interest in Beckham in March when the Rams called the Giants with an offer, which makes sense since they need receivers to go with their franchise quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo. Granted, this is a next-year move since Garoppolo is out for the season. But his best receiver is Marquise Goodwin, who is several steps below Beckham in class.

Los Angeles Chargers

They're probably in the worst cap position of any team on this list, but they're also sensing an opportunity with a 5-2 record and are running out of time to win a championship with soon-to-be 37-year-old Philip Rivers. They have a strong rushing attack, a good offensive line and a good No. 1 receiver in Keenan Allen, but they certainly could use another weapon in the passing game. A big splash like this isn't really the Chargers' style, but it's worth a Hail Mary in the twilight of Rivers' career. Plus, how else are they going to earn their share of Los Angeles' attention with the 8-0 Rams in town?

Los Angeles Rams

They went big-game hunting for a receiver in the offseason, and when they didn't land Beckham they settled on Brandin Cooks. With all their weapons, including Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp, this might be overkill. The last thing the Rams need is more offensive help. But they are going for it all, and if Beckham is thrown into this mix there may not be a defense in the NFL that can stop them.

Green Bay Packers

They have arguably the best quarterback in the NFL and an emerging big-play receiver in Davante Adams. Randall Cobb is a pretty good No. 2, but he's battled injuries and inconsistency. If they added Beckham to the mix, the 34-year-old Aaron Rodgers might become a Super Bowl fixture late in his career.

New York Jets

No, the Giants would never trade him to the Jets. But the Jets are willing to part with high draft picks for great players and they have plenty of cap room to spend. They also are desperate for weapons to play with young franchise quarterback Sam Darnold over the next few years, and they're likely to spend big -- either in money or draft picks -- on receivers this offseason. Honestly, if a receiver like this was available from any other team, the Jets might be first in line. But there's no way the Giants ship a star like Beckham across town. Can you imagine them struggling to rebuild while they watch Darnold and Beckham thrive together over the next few years? No chance.
