Le'Veon Bell

Just as the offensive line is going to help Darnold, it should lead to Bell showing at least some of his old form.

It was such a down season in 2019 for someone who was arguably the best running back in the league before he sat out in 2018. With the Steelers, Bell was touching the pigskin a little more than half of the offensive snaps. His workload was great for the Jets, too, but he never saw that same production, with just 789 yards on 245 rush attempts last season (3.2 yards per carry, a career-low). He also had 66 receptions for 461 yards.

Bell had to fight just to get back to the line of scrimmage last year, but that shouldn't be the case now. Of course, this new o-line needs to mesh first. But Douglas has faith it can help Darnold and Bell. So expect No. 26 to have a big bounce-back season.

Chris Herndon

Staying with the offense, Herndon would definitely like a do-over of 2019. But the best he can do is look forward to bouncing back in 2020.

Herndon faced a suspension at the beginning of the year for violating the league's PED policy. And then when he finally came back, he got hurt with a hamstring injury and went on the IR for the rest of the season.

In his rookie season, Darnold trusted Herndon, who was also a rookie at the time. He caught 39 passes for 502 yards and four touchdowns in his 12 starts, which led the Jets to believe he could be a great option at tight end for years to come.

Herndon can still prove that this season, and with better players around him, the field should open up in the middle. Darnold still likes targeting his tight ends, and he could find that chemistry with Herndon again this season -- as long as he remains on the field.

Henry Anderson

Moving to the defensive side of the ball now, Anderson was a stud in 2018, but didn't see the same results after signing a three-year, $25.2 million extension in 2019.

His seven sacks in 2018 was followed up by just one in 13 games last season. So why is he primed for a big season? Anderson is gunning to prove that his 2018 wasn't a fluke, and that chip on his shoulder should go a long way.

It also helps that his supporting cast should be better. With C.J. Mosley and Avery Williamson both out last season, teams didn't necessarily worry about threats coming up the middle in potential blitzes. Also, Quinnen Williams is expected to improve on his rookie campaign, which should open things up for Anderson.

The Jets know he has the sack capabilities. He just needs a little less attention from blocking schemes. That should come this time around.

C.J. Mosley

Speaking of Mosley, the man ex-GM Mike Maccagnan paid $85 million over five years for last offseason didn't pay dividends in his first year. And it wasn't a lack of production, it was the injury bug.

Mosley just couldn't figure out how to get the groin injury he suffered in Week 1 against the Bills healed, and that led to only two games played. Honestly, that game against the Patriots when he finally returned didn't count because he certainly didn't look like himself.

Mosley should be fully healthy this season, though, and he is someone who produced triple-digit tackles in four of his previous five seasons with the Ravens before joining the Jets. He's a game-wrecking type of player, and that showed in all facets when the Bills were stymied in that Opening Day matchup at MetLife Stadium.

An improved secondary should also allow Mosley to be let loose into the backfield, which could see a spike in sacks and tackles for loss.
